Birthing Center
Pregnancy care classes have long been recognized for helping women feel more at ease and confident about giving birth. Furthermore, they can give women insight into what might occur during labor and delivery – whether vaginally or cesarean – along with options available to them for pain management and potential complications that might occur.
Studies have revealed that women who take childbirth classes are 25 percent more likely to achieve vaginal delivery and 12 percent less likely to need a Cesarean section compared with women without childbirth classes experience or with no previous birth experience. Furthermore, taking classes increases satisfaction with birth experience overall for all participants regardless of age or previous delivery history.
Women who take childbirth classes tend to discuss their birth plan with their caregiver more openly, which can result in improved communication between them and make it easier for women to ask questions or express any concerns related to pregnancy and delivery, which in turn contributes to staying healthy during their gestation and beyond.
Attending a childbirth class can also provide fathers an invaluable opportunity to bond with their partners and learn how to support them throughout the birthing process. This can be particularly important for second-time moms who may have had an especially challenging or trying first delivery, requiring them to adjust their role ahead of their second birthing experience.
